ROUND ONE

My Role: Editor/Cinematographer

I worked with a Canon EOS 7 to shoot photos and videos of the wonderful models. I was under the wonderful direction of Alyssa Samuel, and the creative synergy we had that day was absolutely breathtaking. I handled setting up lighting equipment as well. This was edited in Premiere Pro; it took 4 hours, but I could not be more satisfied. First, I time-blocked all the scenes to match the music, then I started adding effects and transitions, and finally came the color grading. Everything seemed to just come together naturally. Now, I’m translating the project into short-form content-ready aspect ratios.

The Vibe: Bold / Empowering/ Intense

Description: ROUND ONE is a concept about female strength. When women don the same pose, demeanor, and position as their male counterparts, they are read differently by our society.

Reasoning: This project isn’t just a short film. It’s a call to action for Alyssa and me to take our destiny into our hands through collaborating on creative projects. This is just the beginning of our journey, we hope to start our own creative collective called Samuel & Samuel, because, well, we both have Samuel in our name.
